I’m Laura Cardon, a Pleasant View resident, parent, and volunteer firefighter. I’m running for the Pleasant View Board of Directors for this May’s election, to represent and invest in the community I love.
In getting to know some of our neighbors through hosting driveway happy hours, cookie parties, and being in the community with them, the people are my favorite thing about Pleasant View, and I’m excited about the opportunity to represent you.
That’s why I began attending district board meetings a few years ago. The district manages our parks and fire department for the more than 3,800 people in Pleasant View with a budget of more than $3 million. By attending meetings, I realized there was a gap in communication between the district and us, the community. So I started an online newsletter (pleasantviewupdate.com) to help neighbors learn about what’s happening in Pleasant View.
In 2024, I also decided to join the Pleasant View Fire Department as a volunteer firefighter and completed EMT school at Red Rocks Community College. In my service as a volunteer, I’ve had the privilege to learn from our firefighters and witness first-hand how committed they are to the people of this great community.
I’m running for the board of directors because I care about this place and want to be part of the solution to make it even better. My priorities are improving transparency and community engagement in the district’s work.
I will make sure the District knows about the needs of our community and ensure it serves you. I want to engage more with Jefferson County Open Space, Sheriff, and others to collaborate and better meet the needs of our community. And I want to build the same level of tight-knit and caring community that we have on my street in the rest of Pleasant View, by hosting events and other ways for people to get to know one another.
I’ve already been doing it as a citizen for the last two years. In my day job, I’m the district administrator for another special district, Highland Rescue Team Ambulance District. My work at Highland has given me real-world experience in strategic and responsible administration of taxpayer dollars.
I hope you’ll vote for me in-person on May 6 at the Pleasant View Fire Station (955 Moss Street). To learn how to vote by mail, click this link.

Sign up for my online newsletter below. I will be doing recaps of what I learn as I get to know more of you and what you care about during this campaign, but I won't be bugging you for donations or anything like that. It will be the same helpful community posts - always!
